Kłodzko Fortress and labyrinths

The Kłodzko Fortress, located on a hill above the city, is an impressive complex of fortifications whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. For centuries, it served important defensive functions, and its greatest peak occurred in the 17th and 18th centuries when it was transformed into one of the most powerful forts in Central Europe. Expanded during the rule of the Habsburgs and Prussians, the fortress was a strategic defensive point. Its powerful bastions, underground tunnels, and extensive network of mining corridors were adapted for effective defense against enemy attacks.

Today, the fortress serves as a tourist attraction - visitors can explore the extensive casemates, which once served as warehouses and shelters. Guided tours include learning about the history of the fortress, seeing former barracks, and traversing the underground route. It is one of the best-preserved sites of its kind in Poland, offering visitors unforgettable experiences. From the top of the fortress, there is a stunning view of Kłodzko and the Kłodzko Valley. The fortress is also the site of numerous historical events and reenactments that transport visitors to the times of ancient battles.
